David's Campaigns

Save Port Dundas!

David Whitton is supporting the efforts of Patricia Ferguson, Unite and GMB unions to save the Port Dundas Whiskey Distillery.

We call upon Diageo to abandon their plan to close the historic Port Dundas plant and cooperage, where there has been a distillery for 200 years.

We call upon them not to cut over 150 jobs from Glasgow.

We call upon the Scottish Government and all other parties to do everything possible to save Glasgow's jobs.

Don't change the prison name!

Success!

A letter to all of David Whitton's constituents published in the local paper:

Thanks to your efforts and interest the Scottish Prison Service has listened to the views of the people and are to keep the name HMP Low Moss for the new prison.

I was informed by the Kirkintilloch Herald that the SPS has written to the North Glasgow Justice Group confirming their decision.

I would like to thank you for taking the time and trouble to correspond with me on this issue and it is nice to know the occasionally “People Power” can lead to a victory for common sense.

Bin collections saved!

The efforts to restore weekly refuse collection and free special uplifts were a priority for David as he campaigned for the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency of the Scottish Parliament. The work has already paid dividends with the announcement that weekly bin collections are to be reintroduced in the area.

Following the announcement David stated: "The issue of bin collections has been one of paramount importance to constituents and I am delighted that their concerns have been answered. I would urge constituents to contiune their recyling efforts alongside the improved refuse collection service."
